(7) - Municipal electric plant.

The Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Savannah are hereby authorized and empowered to erect and maintain an electric plant for the purpose of lighting the City of Savannah with electricity and to do all things necessary for this purpose; to contract with persons and corporations for the furnishing of electric lights by the said municipal corporation for such just and reasonable compensation as may be agreed on, and to adopt such ordinances, rules and regulations as may be necessary or proper to carry out the true intent and meaning of this Act.
