§ 2-201. Powers and duties, generally.

  • The Mayor shall preside at all meetings of the Mayor and Aldermen and perform all other duties of the office of Mayor, except such as may be altered or changed by this article, expressly or by necessary implication; he shall have a voice and vote in all meetings of the Mayor and Aldermen. In times of danger or emergency, the Mayor may, with the consent of the Mayor and Aldermen, take command of the police and govern the city by proclamation and maintain order and enforce laws. The Mayor shall be recognized as the official head of the city.
