§ 2-306. Police to be under control of Mayor on election day.

Upon election day, the police force of the City of Savannah shall be under the direction
and control of the Mayor of the City of Savannah, for the purpose of preserving order
at and around the Courthouse of said County; there shall be no interference on the
part of said force or any member thereof with any voter who is in good faith attempting
to deposit his ballot, and who is not violating any provisions of this Act, any law
of the State of Georgia, or municipal ordinance of the City of Savannah, and any member
or officer of said force so interfering shall be held and deemed guilty of a misdemeanor
under the laws of the State of Georgia, and shall be punished as provided in section
1065 of the Penal Code of the State of Georgia [now O.C.G.A. § 17-10-3].
