Editor's note

References to the election of the Mayor and Aldermen "elected on the first Tuesday in August, 1958, and on the same day of each succeeding fourth year thereafter," as appear in the 1958 Act have been deleted from the language codified in section 2-303. Subparagraphs (a) and (d) of section 4 of the 1958 Act relating to the term of office of the mayor and the recorder are not codified since they are no longer applicable. Prior to the 1958 Act, elections for mayor and aldermen were held every two years.
